As the ground was being cleared for the Aldo Leopold Nature center in the central Wisconsin forest, we came across this gnarly root cluster. It came from one of the trees first planted by Leopold, a renowned naturalist, over a century ago. We saw beauty in the winding roots and flowing grain. Part wind, part water, and amazingly historic, it begged to come back to life, and it did. Our one-of-a-kind cocktail table.
