The Korte
We started counting the rings, tried three times actually, but never made it past 95 before losing count. That means this table was standing upright before your father was born, and it’s still going strong. Rough and rugged, with a birthmark that may have been a lightning strike, and character to spare.
The Rootafisk
As the ground was being cleared for the Aldo Leopold Nature center in the central Wisconsin forest, we came across this gnarly root cluster. It came from one of the trees first planted by Leopold, a renowned naturalist, over a century ago.
